YOGA EVENING SERIES

Bobbi Tighe is the instructor for this 4-week series that will introduce the benefits of yoga and get you started in a practice. This is a restorative yoga that can help your flexibility, strength, and balance - regardless of your state of physical fitness. Participants learn yoga breathing that provides increased energy and deeper relaxation.

This is an exercise program for people who have completed cancer treatment. It is designed to get you started with dynamic movement, stretching, and strength-training. TWCP Wellness Workout instructor, Joanne Sgro, will lead the class. Written permission from a physician is required. MANAGING WEIGHT GAIN AFTER CANCER
THURSDAY EVENINGS FOR 6 WEEKS - BEGINNING OCTOBER 2
6:00 – 8:00 PM
Learn how to lose weight and adopt a lifestyle that will support healthy survivorship after treatment. Katrina Claghorn, M.S., R.D., C.S.O., L.D.N., Advanced Practice Clinical Dietitian Specialist, Karen Wagner, M.S., R.D., Clinical Dietitian Specialist, both of the Abramson Cancer Center, and TWCP Program Director Kathleen Coyne, L.C.S.W., will present this 6-week weight management and education program for people who have completed treatment for cancer within the past 2 years. Each session will include weigh-ins, body measurements, nutrition education, an introduction to the use of food diaries, and group support. Presentations on food shopping, healthy cooking, the benefits of exercise, and tips for implementing a continued plan for healthy survivorship will be included. Participation is limited and will require a medical release. Please register at 215-879-7733 by September 29.
DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5 - 4:00 - 5:30 PM
Join us at 4:00 PM for this ceremony that celebrates and honors loved ones who have died from cancer. A reading of names will be followed by a reception with light refreshments. Please register by September 30 at 215-879-7733, and inform us of the name(s) of loved one(s) that you wish to have read.
READING FOR WELLNESS BOOK CLUB

The selection is Cancer on $5 a Day* *(chemo not included): How Humor Got Me Through the Toughest Journey of My Life by Robert Schimmel and Alan Eisenstock.
Schimmel, a stand up comedian, was dignosed with Stage III non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2000. “Among a crowded field of inspiring and straight-talking personal survival stories, Schimmel's conversational account is particularly ribald, emphasizing the importance a sense of humor can play in coping, learning, and healing.” Please RSVP at 215-879-7733 by October 3.

Cancer treatment can change a woman’s body in many ways, alter her identity, and impact her relationships. This retreat offers the opportunity to explore these challenges through learning and community. Workshops, meals, and accommodations are all free of charge. Women who are dealing with active issues in breast cancer treatment or who are recovering from treatment (within two years) are eligible, along with a support person, to enjoy this time together. MIND BODY APPROACHES TO WELLNESS

Join Gabriel Rocco, MA, Mind/Body Health Specialist, for a workshop to explore mind/body/emotion interactions. Participate in exercises that utilize breathing, relaxation, meditation practices, and sound healing. Learn how mind/body practices have the potential to support our capacity to live with difficulties and the unpredictable nature of cancer in everyday life.
